Astrology for Artists
Madeleine Botet de Lacaze is an Argentine-born artist and astrologer based in London. Her performance work is interdisciplinary, working at the intersection of performance, queer theory and astrological insight to address identity, belonging and presence.
Madeleine is also the founder of Astrology for Artists. She studied astrology at CASA 11 in Buenos Aires and also at the Faculty of Astrological Studies in London. Integrating her two passions, art and astrology, enabled her to communicate and reflect upon what makes us creative and what makes us feel alive.
We invited Madeleine to talk us trough this month’s astrological events and how they might effect us over the next two weeks and further into the year.
Spiritual Mastery
– Jupiter in Capricorn –
The area of our chart where we have Capricorn has gone through deep transformation – first came Pluto demolishing the old rigid aspects of ourselves, then Saturn made us rebuild an inner structure, but now Jupiter is following these planets with a new vision. With Jupiter in Capricorn we can expand and grow in a serious, stable and earthy way. Doors to new opportunities appear if we show strength, discipline and endurance. This year is ideal to build things that take time, but for this we need to make time. Stop and address what will make you grow in unimaginable ways in the long run, even if that means some initial limitations.
Jupiter in Capricorn is a manifesting force of applied action. One step at a time. Don’t leave your path, define and follow it. You will blossom from effort.
Our Hearts’ Desire
– Full Moon in Leo –
On Sunday 9th February we had a radiant full Moon in Leo. This full Moon asked us to connect with our hearts’ desire. A fiery uplifting full Moon, one that warmly reminds us of the potential we have that needs to be shared with the world. Our hearts spoke out loud this weekend and the best thing is to allow ourselves to embrace that unique voice this month. This is an opportunity to step into the light and connect with your inner fire. Venus is in Aries bringing assertiveness in our conquest and together with Chiron it shows us that love can heal old wounds.
Watery Realms
– Mercury retrograde in Pisces –
Mercury is in dreamy and sensitive Pisces and ready to retrograde from 16th of February until the 9th of March. This time is for exploration to leave the door open to the unknown and connect with our creative and spiritual selves, trusting that if we give ourselves the opportunity to get lost, unimaginable and magical things can happen. When we dare to expand our mind, our physique, our emotions, we find new ways to communicate and think about ourselves. These will not be rational and logical times, actually the more rational and logical we want to be, the more chaotic everything becomes.
Mercury’s retrogrades are opportunities for us to revise our ideas and assess our plans. Allow your creative and imaginative self to flourish by submerging into the deep.
Tapping into our Dreams
– Jupiter sextile Neptune –
On the 20th of February we have the first of a series of three sextiles between Jupiter in Capricorn and Neptune in Pisces happening this year. This transit brings inspiration, harmony, optimism and belief. This is an inspiring moment to connect with our dream and to start thinking how to make it real. This harmonious transit can align yourself and your goals with your spiritual philosophy bringing more meaning to your life.
Faith can be restored, intuition is heightened and your dream life and imagination is strong. A great time to engage with a spiritual practice!
The Artist Within You
– New Moon in Pisces –
Happening on the 23rd of February, the new Moon is a very gentle one, bringing inspiration and creativity to our lives – an ideal time to connect with your creative self and inner child. This new Moon is happening with Mercury retrograde in Pisces so it’s not a mental Moon, but one where your feelings and intuition will show you the way forwards. The Moon in Pisces invites us to explore our creativity, empathy and sensitivity. Bringing us closer to others, and ourselves, but most importantly, closer to our dreams. The Moon cycle is about change and renewal and during this new Moon we open our hearts to receive guidance and consciously choose to connect with our feelings and our aliveness through our cosmic connection.
This is the perfect opportunity to surrender into our feelings, embrace our creativity and connect with the artist within us.
