How did the collaboration come about?
I’ve been looking forward to working in collaboration with Evermore for a long time. There is such a great synergy between the brands and artists that we both work with. We speak the same language when it comes to the colours and patterns that we adore. It was wonderful to bring these two crafts together.
I’ve always been such a huge fan of Ana’s work, she continues to be at the forefront of what she does. Her work is timeless and honest. I’ve always admired that. KANA is one of London’s leading independent decor brands and it was great to work with such a like-minded female entrepreneur.
How did you come to the idea of creating these reusable garden candles?
We had so many exciting ideas on what products we could launch as part of our collaboration – too many in fact. We had to narrow it down.
We thought about dinner party candles and then wondered what the best candles for outdoor dining would be. We then came to discuss outdoor candles; that’s why the wicks are stronger than your standard candle – designed to withstand a summer breeze.
What’s your favourite aspect of the picnic candles?
I was really excited to work on these large statement pieces, perfect for summer evenings in the garden. I love this pattern from my picnic collection and love how wonderfully it works with Sarah’s scents, colours, and the whole aesthetic.
We chose to work with our best selling scents for the summer. Light is a true citrus, height of summer scent. With top notes of grapefruit and bergamot, it has one of the strongest scent throws and instantly lifts your mood. Flore is a floral with a difference. We paired a spicy base note of clove with lilac and petitgrain, adding a modern twist to a traditional floral scent.
How did you bring your sustainable brand values to this pair of luxury natural candles?
As a brand, we always champion the reuse of our vessels once the candle has finished burning. Taking this to the next stage, it seemed only natural to work with Ana to work on these beautiful bowls that can be used again and again.
We wanted to stay true to our brand ethos of non-toxic candles as so many outdoor candles can leave soot marks and get excessively smokey when brought indoors. Being an independent candle brand as well as a female-owned business, it was important that everything was done to the most exacting standards.
